Historic Preservation Awards
The Historic Preservation Awards are presented by the Historic Preservation Commission to individuals, organizations, and local governments within Harford County, whose contributions demonstrate outstanding achievements in historic preservation. They are presented every other May in honor of National Historic Preservation Month.*
Nominations may be made in four categories: Preservation Project Award, Preservationist Honor Award, Special Preservation Award, and the Local Government Preservation Award. Nominations may come from the community, individuals, organizations or the Historic Preservation Commission itself. When deemed appropriate, the Historic Preservation Commission may designate multiple recipients for any or all Awards in a given year. The Commission is under no obligation to make any Award or Awards in each category in a given year. Nominations will no longer roll over; nominations must be resubmitted to be considered.
The nomination period opens in early December and closes mid-January. The next awards ceremony will take place in May 2019.
* The Historic Preservation Commission voted to change the Historic Preservation Awards from an annual event to a biennial event. Please contact the County’s Historic Preservation Planner with any questions regarding this.*
