Juror Reporting Instructions

Please read the following carefully as reporting instructions have changed to accommodate social distancing.

Grand Jurors with a reporting number of 1 through 44 are to report by 9:00 A.M. to the Jury Assembly Room located on Level B of the Courthouse, 20 W. Courtland Street Bel Air, MD 21014. 
Grand Jurors with a reporting number of 46 through 79 are to report by 11:00 A.M. to the Jury Assembly Room located on Level B of the Courthouse, 20 W. Courtland Street Bel Air, MD 21014.

  

 Health Precautions Due to COVID-19:
All Maryland Courts have taken measures to protect your safety. Courts take public health and safety seriously and are regularly coordinating with state and local health officials to obtain information about COVID-19. Strict policies have been implemented to decrease the risk of spreading the virus for all court personnel and visitors to the courthouse. 
  •  Face masks must be worn at all times while inside the courthouse. Entry will not be permitted without a proper face covering.
  • Bring gloves and hand sanitizer if desired. These items will also be available in the Jury Assembly Room.
  • Non-contact temperature checks will be conducted upon entry.
  • Social distancing is required. Please remain 6 feet apart. Seating in Jury Assembly Room is marked accordingly.

If you have a fever, cough, or other symptoms of COVID-19, or if you are under quarantine or have a household member currently under quarantine for COVID-19, please stay home and contact the jury office by email or phone (after 9:30 a.m.) to have your jury service rescheduled.

Please Note: If Juror Instructions are NOT available from this site, please call 410-838-3172 after 5:00 P.M. the evening before your report date (including Sunday) for final reporting instructions.

   

TO EXPEDITE THE CHECK IN PROCESS, PLEASE  REPORT ON TIME AND HAVE YOUR JUROR BADGE READY WHEN YOU REPORT.  If you lost your summons/juror badge, please bring your license or photo ID for check in.

Your service is for one day OR one grand jury term. You must plan to be available all day, which could be until 5:00 p.m. or later. If selected/seated as a grand juror, you are to serve for the duration of the four month term.  Please note seated grand jurors serve every other Tuesday, typically 2 days per month.
  
Cell phones and other electronic devices (such as laptops, tablets, etc.) are allowed into the courthouse; however use of such devices will be limited to the Jury Assembly Room. Devices must be turned off while inside a courtroom and are not permitted inside the jury deliberation rooms. Devices are not permitted to take or record photographs, video or other audio/visual images in a court facility. Any persons found in violation of electronic device restrictions shall be subject to confiscation of the device, a fine or incarceration at the discretion of the presiding Judge of this Court. 

No weapons, knives or sharp objects of any kind are permitted in the courthouse.There will be no provisions available for childcare, so do not bring children. 

Juror Parking
Jurors park, free of charge, on the roof top level only of the parking garage located on the corner of Courtland Street & Hickory Avenue. Be sure to place your parking permit or a note on your dashboard (visible through the windshield). Note: If the roof top level is CLOSED, you may park on levels 4 and 5 with your permit displayed. The Jury Commissioner's Office will NOT void or pay parking tickets.
 
If your vehicle exceeds the height of the garage (6 feet, 11 inches) or if you require handicap parking, please contact our office, by email or phone, preferable BEFORE your report date, for parking instructions.
 
*GRAND JURY IN CASE OF INCLEMENT WEATHER - If the Circuit Court for Harford County is closed due to inclement weather, grand jurors are cancelled and your obligation is satisfied for this calendar year. If the Circuit Court for Harford County has a delayed opening due to inclement weather, the same applies for grand jury. For example, if the Circuit Court for Harford County opens at 10:00 a.m., you would report for grand jury orientation at 10:00 a.m.
